Honor St. Dominic’s Gift: Pray the Rosary Every Day

Saint Dominic, whose feast is Aug. 8, gave to the Church one of her greatest treasures: the Holy Rosary. Our Lady has given us a "rope" with which to bear any burden, to make them light and easy to carry.

North American Sanctity: Blessed Frédéric Janssoone

He was a traveling salesman in his home country of France who became a Franciscan priest and ministered over 50 years in Europe, the Holy Land, and ultimately Canada, earning praise as “another St. Francis of Assisi.” His name is Blessed Frédéric Janssoone, OFM, and his feast day is Aug. 5.

The easiest-hardest-crucial devotion for our time: First Saturday

This Saturday, Aug. 3, is a First Saturday. It’s the sort of devotion that we need to keep promoting, and reminding ourselves to make, as well. Christ and His Church face many foes today, and the Mother of God has given us the remedy to defeating the greater part of these enemies strength. 

The "Marian Doctor": St. Alphonsus Liguori

He is considered the “Marian Doctor of the Church” and was declared the “Patron of all confessors and moral theologians” by Ven. Pope Pius XII. He is St. Alphonsus Liguori, whose feast we celebrate on August 1.

Soldiers for Christ like St. Ignatius of Loyola

Saint Ignatius of Loyola, whose feast we celebrate on July 31, named his order the Society of Jesus, or the Company of Jesus. The men of the Jesuit order are meant to be soldiers for Christ, fighting the world, the flesh, and the devil under the standard of Christ, the Sign of the Cross.

North American Sanctity: Blessed Solanus Casey, OFM Cap

He was not your average priest, yet stories of miracles abound from those who sought him out for his spiritual wisdom, counsel, and healing touch. And he could be the first native-born American priest to be named a saint. He is Bl. Solanus Casey, OFM Cap, and his feast day is July 30.

North American Sanctity: Blessed Fr. Stanley Rother

Blessed Fr. Stanley Rother (feast day: July 28) was the first priest born in the United States to be martyred and beatified. Blessed Stanley was murdered in Guatemala in 1981 while serving as a missionary to the Tx’utujil people.
