Who Is Our Spiritual 'Blueprint'?

The Lord Jesus gave me to know how very pleasing to Him is a soul who lives in accordance with the will of God. It thereby gives very great glory to God ...
- Diary of St. Faustina, 821

Wow, living in accordance with the will of God sounds awesome, doesn't it? If it also sounds far-fetched, then here's some advice. Today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a perfect time to not only honor Our Blessed Mother but to also honor what God desires for us.

Mary is not only the Mother of Jesus, she is our mother as well. She is our spiritual mother who wishes to give to her children the same nature she has. She was immaculately conceived, conceived without sin. As Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, says, "What Mary has at the beginning of her life, no sin whatsoever, God wants us to have at the end of our life. God chose to create Mary as the Immaculate Conception because He wanted all of us to have a perfect mother who would serve as the blueprint, pattern, and model for what it means to be a member of the Church. In reality, there is only one model for what it means to be a member of the Church, namely, the Immaculate Conception."

Mary, look after my needs. Calm my soul. Help me to turn from sin. Nurture the Christ-life within me, from now until the hour of my death. Amen.
