More than 100 golfers participated in the 11th annual Slice of Heaven Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, July 13, at the Egremont Country Club.
The weather could not have been better for the tournament, which is sponsored by the Marians of the Immaculate Conception. More importantly, the enthusiasm of the volunteers as well as the golfers was unsurpassed. It was truly a wonderful day.
The amount raised for the charities will be released in a few weeks as revenue is still being received. But in the previous 10 years combined, the tournament has raised $173,000.
Four wonderful and deserving charities will each benefit financially from the day. The beneficiaries this year are the Catholic Youth Center, Berkshire Hospice, Community Health Program, and Catholic Schools of Pittsfield.
"The Marians, in their ministry, work hard to help people in need all around the world," said Ralph Tassone, co-chairman of the tournament and the comptroller of the Marian Helpers Center. "What this tournament is all about is helping those in need in the Marians' own backdoor here in Berkshire County."
This year's tournament included 35 sponsors and more than 100 raffle donors.
