The Marian Fathers present this Lenten devotional series to help you prepare to receive graces on Easter and Divine Mercy Sunday.
Readings: Jer 20:10-13; Ps 18:2-3A 3BC-4, 5-6, 7; Jn 10:31-42

Everything John said about this man was true. - Jn 10:41
He dressed strangely (in camel hair) and had an unusual diet (locusts and wild honey). He admitted he wasn't the Messiah. He performed no sign. Despite all this, John the Baptist attracted many followers, to whom he proclaimed, "One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals" (Mk 1:7).
Throughout our Gospel readings in Lent, we have been seeing that Jesus is greater than all who came before Him. Greater than Moses. Greater than Jonah. And, as we read yesterday, even greater than Abraham - the father of the Israelites. In today's reading, Jesus continues to explain how He is the fullest possible revelation of the Father. He is indeed the Son of God. At this, the Jews are ready to kill Him for blasphemy. Jesus tells them:

If I do not perform my Father's works, do not believe me; but if I perform them, even if you do not believe me, believe the works, so that you may realize and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father (Jn 10:37-38).
Jesus escapes and goes to a place where John baptized. We learn, "Many came to him and said, 'John performed no sign, but everything John said about this man was true.' And many there began to believe in him" (Jn 10:41-42).
Prayer: My dear Lord, may I be truly grateful for the signs of Your love in my life.
