'Snowfall'

Father Andy Davy, MIC, pastor of St. Mary Parish in Plano, Illinois, also writes poetry. Here, we share some of his work and his commentaries on that work in the latest installment of a weekly series.

"Snowfall"

Look upwards
Under the Light
And you will see
The Carousel of Ice.

Frozen Steeds
None quite alike
Beginning the Descent
Of Concentric Delight.

Guided solely
On the Winds of Time,
Snowflakes Whirl but not forever:
Earth one day will say "Mine".

Falling Stars,
Don't Despair!
As you Crash from the Skies.

For from your Ruin
Shall arise,
Delight of Children's Eyes.

This poem came from a nightly gazing under a lamppost, looking upwards into the brilliance of snowflakes falling. It is poem to capture that experience, yet also speaks of the sudden reversals and paradoxes that occur within our Christian Faith. A poem of both mortality and hope.

Marian vocations are thriving! On Ordination Weekend, May 8 and 9, 2026, at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, we welcomed three new Deacons and one new Priest for the Marian Congregation.

Mary is the Mother of the Church, of all the members of the Body of Christ — and she is mighty to help us. We honor her on the Monday after Pentecost, May 25.

These prayers, one for each day of the week, are today a living embodiment of the message of hope and peace which Our Lady gave the world at Fatima.
