An Adoration Prayer
Dear Jesus forgive
Blind eyes that still
Mistake you for the wallpaper
That covered and chilled
First love's memory,
Having been seduced by the monotony
Of so many "nice" things,
Which do give forth the bling,
Yet forsake deeper roots
That could have prevented the
Withered fruits
Of that true Shalom
Meant for me.
But as I come to the altar of praise,
Enthroned manna smiles
And strikes me a gaze
That breaks a bond with Egypt,
Setting this captive free:
Wallpaper is ripped,
Tabernacle is seen ...
With the Red Sea now parted,
I can run to the only Shalom
Really meant for me.
This poem is about how the Lord is desiring to awaken us to His Eucharistic presence. How many times have we not cared like we should before the tabernacle! Let us learn the precious wisdom from St Faustina (in Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, 80).
