“All you who pass by, look and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow…” — Lamentations 1:12
I, Jesus, lie in Mother's arms so mild,
I, Mary, bear in grief my tender child.
I lie in death, so weak and still and cold.
I, living still, the weak with love enfold.
I lie, despised by men with hate and ire.
I sit, enkindling lost souls with Love's fire.
I bore the Cross of love with all its pain.
I bear the cross as if I, too, were slain.
I found a Church to stand through all the years,
I trust in Him, my foresight dimmed with tears.
I, Jesus, shall arise in three days' time.
I, Mary, give to earth my child sublime.
