Gift from your IRA

If you are 70½ years old or older, making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA offers many advantages, and it's easier than you may think.

The Marians have partnered with FreeWill, a secure IRA donation platform that allows eligible donors to make gifts from their IRA – also known as a QCD – in as little as 10 minutes. This kind of gift is uniquely impactful for both the Marians and you as it immediately furthers our mission to spread devotion to Divine Mercy and Mary Immaculate and to assist the Holy Souls while reducing your taxes.

Give from your IRA

The more you know:

  • Your QCD is not included in your income, so you are not taxed on it.
  • A QCD is not deductible as a charitable gift, so it is an attractive option when you are going to claim the standard deduction on your income taxes.
  • A QCD will not increase your annual income level, so it will not increase your Medicare premiums and it may decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.
  • Due to recent changes in legislation, if you are 73 or older (or have been required to take an RMD in the past), these funds count toward your RMD!

If you would prefer to make your donation offline, you can request a QCD from your IRA custodian, using these instructions:

  1. Make the check payable to "Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M." and note "Qualified Charitable Distribution" in the memo line.
  2. Mail your check to Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M., 2 Prospect Hill Road, Stockbridge, MA 01262.
  • It’s possible that the IRA custodian will not share your name and address with us. Please let us know when you make a gift so we can make sure to thank you and ensure that your gift gets to where it’s intended.
