Blessed George Matulaitis - His Life and Mission

On Jan. 27, the Feast Day of Blessed George Matulaitis, the Renovator of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Thaddaeus Lancton, MIC, gave a talk and presentation to the staff at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam, Connecticut.

Not many have heard of Blessed George, but without him, the Marian Fathers would probably not exist to this day. Blessed George secretly entered the Marians during the Bolshevik regime in Lithuania, when Catholic religious were outlawed and the Marians were down to only one member.

An example of humility, prayer, service, and prudent zeal, Blessed George has something to teach us all. He spent his whole life for Christ, and prayed that he might be God's "dishrag" - used by the Lord to clean His Church, and afterward thrown away when his mission was completed. He had a great love for Jesus and Immaculate Mary that we all can strive for.

Let us pray through Blessed George's intercession that we may be servants of Christ in His Church and live our lives for the greater glory of God.

Blessed George Matulaitis, pray for us!
One more miracle is needed for the cause of Blessed George's canonization. If you, or someone you know, are in need of a miracle, pray for Blessed George's intercession. Prayer for the Canonization of Blessed George

O most holy and indivisible Trinity, You make your abode in the hearts of those who serve You faithfully on earth, and after death crown their merits with a reward in heaven. Grant, we humbly pray, that Your Servant Blessed George, who with the help of the Immaculate Virgin Mary served Your Church with apostolic zeal, through her intercession be crowned soon with the glory of sainthood, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

December 11 is the anniversary of the founding of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception. On this day in 1670, St. Stanislaus Papczyński left the Piarist order and made his oblatio, his self-offering, to defend the Immaculate Conception.

Stories about his selfless generosity of heart are the chief reasons St. Nicholas, feast day Dec. 6, is so affectionately revered.

Saint Cecilia's feast on Nov. 22 is a good day to reflect on what music is and does - particularly sacred music.
