Who Was St. Odilo of Cluny?

Saint Odilo of Cluny (c. 962-1049) was the French Benedictine abbot who established All Souls Day (Nov. 2), when the Church commemorates all the faithful departed who are undergoing purification in purgatory for their sins.

We are then invited to remember these souls throughout the month of November, mindful that they cannot help themselves. For us, the faithful on earth, the most important aspect of this work of mercy for the Holy Souls is our ability to help release them from purgatory by having Masses said for their intention as well as through offering personal prayers and sacrifices on their behalf.

But back to St. Odilo. In his latest video on the saints, Fr. Dan Cambra, MIC, shares why St. Odilo is ranked among his favorite saints.
