The woman saw that the tree was good for food.... - Gen 3:6
A mother was reading her 3-year-old son today's Genesis story. As the story progressed, the boy grew increasingly frustrated. "Didn't God make the Garden?" Yes. "Didn't He make Adam and Eve?" Yes. "Then why didn't they trust Him?"
The boy's mother explained that Eve had been tempted by the snake not to trust God. Then Eve looked at the forbidden fruit, and judged it using her own senses instead. Adam then did likewise. Once they realized what they had done, the two tried to hide from God.
Now exasperated, the boy exclaimed, "Why didn't they just say they're sorry?!"
Here we have the essence of the Divine Mercy message. God's will is Love and Mercy itself (see Diary, 950). He is worthy of our trust, and He longs for us to trust in His mercy. As He revealed to St. Faustina:

The graces of My mercy are drawn by means of one vessel only, and that is - trust. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive (Diary, 1578).
Prayer: Jesus, I trust in You!
